CWM sponsors a number of events and activities with the aim of encouraging women in mathematics, with priority given to developing or emerging countries. Our main focus has been aimed at establishing or supporting networks at the continental or regional level. Other events, workshops and projects have also been supported. Events sponsored by the 2017 funding call will take place in Brazil, Canada, Chile, India, Iran, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Tunisia, South Africa and Vietnam.
The 2016 events took place in Colombia (Latin America), India, Indonesia (S. and E. Asia), Kazakhstan (Central Asia), Mexico (Latin America), Senegal (West Africa), Tunisia (North Africa). In 2015-16, similar activities were also funded in Kenya (Africa) and Brazil (Latin America).

Chile II Workshop of Women in Mathematics in Latin America 22-26 January 2018
This workshop, to be held in Chile, is a follow-up meeting to the First Workshop held in Oaxaca, Mexico in August 2016. Proposed by the Network of Women in Mathematics of Latin America and the Caribbean (Red de Mujeres Matemáticas de Latinoamérica y el Caribe) and the Colectivo de Mujeres Matemáticas en Chile, the purpose is to gather women in mathematics in Latin America and is a further step towards creating a union of women in mathematics from Latin America in the ICM Rio 2018.

The conference introduced the main goals and objectives of CAWMA. The main scientific theme was Mathematics and Mechanics. There were 36 participants from 19 universities with four Central Asian countries Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan,Tajikistan and Uzbekistan represented. The meeting gathered women in mathematics having leadership positions in order to propose action plans for the balance inclusion of women in education in particular as academic mathematicians. The meeting was held during the Fifth Latin American Congress of Mathematics. The aim was to establish a network of women mathematicians in the region. Here is a YouTube video of the event. This conference brought together women students, college and university teachers and early-career researchers with mathematicians, especially women mathematicians to exchange mathematical ideas and share their views.
A major goal was to enable junior women mathematicians to interact with their senior colleagues, both individually and in small groups, as well as to present their work. Nalini Joshi was a distinguished visitor.
