CALL FOR NOMINATIONS for Nominating Committee for the ICMI EC 2017-2021

According to ICMI's regulations, the process for the election of the next ICMI Executive Committee (which will take office on January 1st, 2017) should start in 2014.

The first step in the process of electing the next EC consists of the formation of a Nomination Committee. This committee includes two members selected from a pool of nominees submitted by the ICMI member countries through the country representatives. The nominating committee should be chosen by December 31, 2014.

Therefore the ICMI leadership invites the ICMI representatives to select, in consultation of the Adhering Organisations of their country, one candidate for the ICMI EC 2017-2021 Nomination Committee (called Nomination Committee).

Please bear in mind that:

  • The candidates should be willing to actively serve in the Nomination Committee throughout the process (until July 2016).
  • Submission of candidacies should be sent to the ICMI Secretary General before December 1st, 2014.
  • The members will be randomly selected from the whole pool of candidates submitted by the country representatives, provided they do not work in the same country as the other members of the Nomination Committee.
  • Each AO may submit one name to be a Member of the ICMI Nominating Committee. This person should have significant knowledge and experience of ICMI affairs, cannot work in the same country as the President of IMU (2015-2018) and the President of ICMI (2013-2016) - namely Japan and Italy-, and cannot be a current member of the ICMI Executive Committee.  (This person also cannot work in the same country as the Chair of the Nominating Committee and the person chosen by the IMU EC, but this restriction will be applied at a later stage, as these two members of the Nominating Committee are at this moment unknown.)
  • All submissions should be sent via e-mail, post or fax to the Secretary-General of ICMI (via "ICMI_Secretary-General@mathunion.org").  All e-mail submissions must be sent from the official e-mail address of the AO.
  • The nomination must be accompanied by the proposed candidate's declaration of willingness to serve.
  • No member of the ICMI Nominating Committee will be eligible to the 2017-2021 ICMI Executive Committee.
