Satellite Events

Call for Proposals

In conjunction with the 2018 International Congress of Mathematicians, supplemental activities and events sponsored by ICM partners will enrich collaboration among the world mathematics community and bring its contributions to the field and society to the attention of an extended audience.

To advance this mutual aspiration, the ICM 2018 Executive Committee encourages and invites our global colleagues to submit proposals for satellite conferences in all areas of mathematical research of current interest.

Proposals should be e-mailed to the Parallel Activities and Satellite Events Committee at satellites@icm2018.org and provide the following data:

• title, location, and date(s) of the conference;
• brief description of the conference’s theme and topics;
• sponsors, organizers, and designated representative;
• scientific advisory committee;
• list of speakers (to be) invited or who have committed to present;
• conference website URL.

Proposals will be assessed by the committee, in consultation with ad hoc experts, according to the following criteria:

• scientific quality and interest of the proposed theme and topics;
• sponsors’ and organizers’ past conference experience;
• international perspective, as reflected by the diversity of presenters;
• schedule proximity to ICM 2018.

While ICM 2018 does not secure financial support for satellite activities, it will issue a formal acceptance letter which may be provided to prospective funding agencies when applying for such assistance.

Three periods have been established for the submission of proposals:

Period 1: January 1, 2015 to December 18, 2015
Period 2: March 1, 2016 to December 23, 2016
Period 3: March 1, 2017 to December 1, 2017

Timely transmission of proposals is requested and early submissions are encouraged. Benefits include earlier decisions and priority on conference themes.

Proposers will be informed of the committee’s decision when it has been reached. An updated list of approved satellite conferences will be posted on this website by the end of the February following the closing date of each period.
