Members and Quadrennial Reports
The work of the Committee is organised in four year terms between two ICM’s under the guidance of a Chair appointed by the Executive Committee (EC) of the IMU. The Chair can only be appointed once. At the end of such a 4 year term, the Committee submits a Quadrennial Report to the EC (see below) and typically a shorter summary of activities that is presented at the General Assembly of the IMU preceding the ICM.
Since 2008, membership is staggered. Members are appointed in even-numbered years for four year terms, normally commencing on January 1 of the following year, using criteria similar to those for IMU Commissions.
In its early days, Committee members would typically meet once or twice a year, with ongoing projects organized in smaller working groups. Moreover, the Committee regularly organized panels and talks of general interest to the mathematical community at ICM’s.
Since 2020, regular meetings are held online, thus ensuring a smoother collaboration and exchange. Nevertheless, the Committee still aims to hold in-person meetings regularly.
