2022 IMU-Simons Africa Fellowship Recipients

Jewaidu Rilwan

Jewaidu Rilwan is a lecturer in mathematics at Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria. He will be hosted by Prof. Massimiliano Ferrarra at the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria, Italy. During the research period, Jewaidu Rilwan will do research on game value of a pursuit-evasion game problem with Gronwall-type constraints on controls and on the stabilization of COVID-19 lockdown policy: the fictitious-potential game approach.

Akindele Onifade

Akindele Onifade is a lecturer in the department of computer science and mathematics at the Mountain Top University, Ibafo, Ogun, Nigeria. He will be hosted by Prof. Calistus N. Ngonghala U at the University of Florida, USA. During the research period, Akindele Onifade will do research on mathematical models to investigate the health impact of co-infection of humans with COVID-19 and HIV.

Abimbola Abolarinwa

Abimbola Abolarinwa is a lecturer in the department of mathematics at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He will be hosted by Prof. Michael Ruzhansky at the Ghent Analysis & PDE Centre, Ghent University, Belgium. During the research period, Abimbola Abolarinwa will do research on Picone type identities and their applications in the analysis of partial differential equation.

Celestin Lele

Celestin Lele is a professor of mathematics at the University of Dschang, Cameroon. He will be hosted by Prof. Lutz Strungmann at the University of Applied Sciences, Mannheim, Germany. During the research period, Celestin Lele will do research on residuated lattices and possible applications in Mathematical Biology.

Kolaye Gabriel Guilsou

Kolaye Gabriel Guilsou is a lecturer of applied mathematics at the University of Maroua, Cameroon. He will be hosted by Professor Aziz Alaoui, at the Université du Havre, France. During the research period, Celestin Lele will do research on parameters and states estimation in a COVID-19 model under climatic and immunological factors: A study case of Cameroon.

Rezki Chemlal

Rezki Chemlal is an assistant professor at the University of Béjaia, Algeria. He will be hosted by Professor Alejandro Maas at the University of Santiago, Center for Mathematical Modeling, Chile. During the research period, Rezki Chemlal will do research on ergodic and topological properties of one dimensional cellular automata and more generally about symbolic dynamics, topological dynamics and ergodic theory.

Fatma Ebrahim

Fatma Ebrahim is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Science, AL-Azhar University, Egypt. She will be hosted by Professor Sergio Roberto López-Permouth at the Ohio University, USA. During the research period, Fatma Ebrahim will do research on the study of amenable bases of infinite dimensional algebras in at least two directions.

Djoukwe Tapi Myriam Sonia

Djoukwe Tapi Myriam Sonia is a researcher at the University of Douala, Cameroon. She will be hosted by Professor Nguyen-Huu Tri at the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD), France. During the research period, Djoukwe Tapi Myriam Sonia will do research on mathematical modelling with applications in ecology, agronomy and epidemiology directions.

Julius Ehigie

Julius Ehigie is a lecturer at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He will be hosted by Professor Dr. Vu Thai Luan at the Mississippi State University, USA. During the research period, Julius Ehigie will do research on optimized and parallel exponentially fitted two-derivative Runge-Kutta methods with optimized dispersion and dissipation order (phase properties).

Hassane Bouzahir

Hassane Bouzahir is a Professor at the Ibn Zohr University, Agadir, Morocco. He will be hosted by Prof. Alessandro N. Vargas at the Federal University of Technology - Parana, Brazil. During the research period, Hassane Bouzahir will do research on stochastic (switched) dynamical systems and application in engineering such as automation, circuit dynamics and renewable energy.

Plaire Tchinda Mouofo

Plaire Tchinda Mouofo is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Maroua, Cameroon. He will be hosted by Prof. Ousmane Seydi at the École polytechnique de Thiès, Senegal. During the research period, Plaire Tchinda Mouofo will do research on computer, optimal control for delayed differential equations and mathematical modelling of dynamical systems.

 

Alexis Nangue

Alexis Nangue is a Senior Lecturer at the Higher Teachers’ Training College of the University of Maroua, Cameroon. He will be hosted by Prof. Alan D. Rendall at the Johannes Gutenbuerg University of Mainz, Germany. During the research period, Alexis Nangue will do research on stability and periodic oscillations of an in-host model of hepatitis C with therapy.

 

Adolphus Wagala

Adolphus Wagala is a Senior Lecturer at the Bomet University College, Kenya. He will be hosted by Prof. Graciela González Farías at the Centro de Investigacion en Matematicas, AC, Mexico. During the research period, Adolphus Wagala will do research on novel spatio-temporal machine learning models for the early prediction of areas at risk of arbovirus transmission.

Martins Onuorah

Martins Onuorah is an associate professor at the Kampala International University, Uganda. He will be hosted by Prof. Nandadulal Bairagi at the Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. During the research period, Martins Onuorah will do research on optimal control model of COVID-19 as a case study of the Republic of Uganda.
