IMU Breakout Graduate Fellowship Awardees 2025

Breakout Graduate Fellowship grants are funded by the generous donations from Breakthrough Prize winners. The award of full PhD grants goes to students from developing countries engaged in a PhD degree in the mathematical sciences in a developing country. The 2025 recipients are as follows (listed in alphabetical order):

Festa Ndubuogaranya

Festa Ndubuogaranya is a student from Nigeria. She received a three year doctoral fellowship to to pursue a PhD at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. Her research will focus on computational and applied mathematics under the supervision of Prof. Julius Ehigie (University of Lagos, Nigeria).

Juan Pablo Lopez

Juan Pablo Lopez is a student from Colombia. He received a three year doctoral fellowship to to pursue a PhD at the Universidad del Valle, Colombia. His research will focus on mathematical analysis under the supervision of Prof. Julio Delgado (Universidad del Valle, Colombia).

Mojtaba Zareh Bidaki

Mojtaba Zareh Bidaki is a student from Iran. He received a two year doctoral fellowship to to pursue a PhD at the Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences (IPM), Iran. His research will focus on dynamical systems under the supervision of Prof. Meysam Nassiri ( Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences (IPM), Iran.).

Valeriia Kotelnykova

Valeriia Kotelnykova is a student from Ukraine. She received a four year doctoral fellowship to to pursue a PhD at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine. Her research will focus on applied mathematics under the supervision of Prof. Alexander Iksanov (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine).

Vo Quoc Bao

Vo Quoc Bao is a student from Vietnam. He received a two year doctoral fellowship to to pursue a PhD at the Hanoi Institute of Mathematics, Vietnam. His research will focus on algebra and number theory under the supervision of Prof. Phung Ho Hai (Hanoi Institute of Mathematics, Vietnam).
