CIMPA school "Hopf Algebras and Tensor Categories", Argentina, July 25-August 5, 2019

The CIMPA school "Hopf Algebras and Tensor Categories", was sussessfully held in Cordoba, Argentina from July 29 until August 5, 2019.

The school's main goals were:
-To introduce students to the area of (pointed) Hopf algebras and tensor categories
-To connect researchers with undergraduate students from Argentina who want to pursue doctoral studies
-To connect Pd.D. Students with researchers to expand their lines of research

All goals were achieved during the conference.

There were six courses in the school:

The Second International Conference of Applications of Mathematics to Non-linear Sciences (AMNS-2019), Nepal, June 27-30,2019

The Second International Conference of Applications of Mathematics to Non-linear Sciences (AMNS-2019) was successfully held in Pokhara, Nepal from June 27 until June 30, 2019. In addition, just before the conference, a Summer School in Mathematical Biology (SSMB-2019) was held in Kathmandu, Nepal from June 17 until June 26, 2019. The conference attracted 218 participants from 16 different countries from all around the world.

Algebraic Geometry, Number Theory and Applications in Cryptography and Robot Kinematics, Cameroon, July 2-13, 2019

The CIMPA-School "Algebraic Geometry, Number Theory and Applications in Cryptography and Robot Kinematics" took place in Limbé, Cameroon, from July 2-13, 2019. This School offered intensive teaching sessions to graduate students and young researchers from Africa. The topics which were covered were in the Areas of algebraic geometry and number theory.

5th Biennial International Group Theory Conference, Indonesia, July 1-4, 2019

The 5th Biennial International Group Theory Conference (5BIGTC) 2019 was organized by the Algebra Research Group, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences ITB, the Indonesian Algebra Society and the Faculty of Mathematics, University of Mashhad. The aim of this conference was to exchange research ideas amongst group theorists and postgraduate students. In addition, specialists in the subject of group theory were able to present their latest research works and encourage interested students to progress and widen their knowledge in the area of group theory.

Géométrie Algébrique en Liberté (GAeL), Romania, June 17-21, 2019

The conference "Géométrie Algébrique en Liberté (GAeL) " brought together 76 young researchers in algebraic geometry, both PhD students and young postdocs. Among them there were 55 supported participants, 6 global and 2 local organizers. There were three senior speakers. The three invited senior speakers each presented a mini-courses about important modern areas of algebraic geometry. Each mini-course consisted of four lectures, each lasting one hour.

Quantum Topology and Hyperbolic Geometry Conference, Vietnam, May 27-31, 2019

The "Quantum Topology and Hyperbolic Geometry Conference" was a five day conference with 20 talks from leading international experts in Quantum Topology and Low-Dimensional Topology.  It was followed by a four day mini-course for young researchers and students. The local researchers and young students greatly benefited from lectures of leading experts in the area of topology and geometry. Mathematical exchanges between local young lecturers with foreign experts not only stimulate their scientific research, but also innovate their teaching at university level.

Hyperplane Arrangements : Recent Advances and Open Problems, Vietnam, March 11-22, 2019

The CIMPA school “Hyperplane Arrangements: Recent Advances and Open Problems” in Hanoi introduced a modern and very active area of mathematics to the audience in Vietnam and the region. The school is primarily oriented towards PhD students and young researchers. This CIMPA school and workshop brought together 60 participants, among which about 35-40 percent were from foreign countries.

Isfahan Conference on Representations of Algebras, Iran, April 16-19, 2019

Representation Theory is a central branch of modern mathematics that studies realizations of abstract non-linear structures using classical linear and/or combinatorial concrete structures like matrices, linear operators and quivers. It is a very active and dynamic area, both heavily influenced by important applications to algebra, combinatorics, geometry, topology, analysis, category theory, number theory, mathematical physics and other branches of mathematics and physics.

Summer School: Combinatorics meets Algebra, Geometry and Optimization - ECCO 2018, Colombia, June 5-16, 2018

This school was the sixth "Encuentro Colombiano de Combinatoria (ECCO)” (Colombian Meeting on Combinatorics). Previous meetings took place in Bogotá (2003, 2008, 2012, and 2014), and in Medellín (2016). The main objective of the school was to bring young mathematicians from the region into close contact with international researchers and leading experts in various fields of combinatorics and its applications. The aim was to promote mathematical research among young students in a motivating environment and to consolidate a regional research network in combinatorics.
