ICM 2030

The International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) 2030 is scheduled to be held in July/August 2030 and will mark the 31st edition of the ICM.

The IMU Executive Committee (EC) invited all Adhering Organizations and national mathematical societies from IMU member countries to submit proposals to host ICM 2030, along with the IMU General Assembly meeting that precedes the Congress.

The deadline for submitting bids was 30 November 2025.

Now that the deadline has passed, the procedure is as follows: the IMU EC will establish a Site Selection Committee (SSC), comprising IMU EC members who have no potential conflict of interest with any of the bidders, as well as the Chair of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of a previous ICM. The SSC will appoint a Site Visiting Committee (SVC), consisting of four of its members, tasked with visiting all proposed ICM sites and venues. These site visits will occur in early 2026.

Following the site visits, the SVC will provide each bidder with written feedback, offering an evaluation of the strengths of each proposal and pointing out any aspects in need of improvement. Bidders will have an opportunity to revise their proposals based on this feedback. Revised proposals must be submitted within one month of the site visit.

Once all revised proposals have been received and reviewed, the SSC will finalize its recommendations for consideration by the IMU General Assembly.

Bidders will be invited to present their proposals in person at the IMU General Assembly, before delegates select the winning bid.

Following the selection, the IMU and the LOC of the chosen host country will enter into an agreement outlining the terms and responsibilities related to organizing the ICM. A template of this agreement is provided below.
