International School-Conference “Sobolev Readings”, Russia, December 10-16, 2018

The International School-Conference “Sobolev Readings” was held from December 10 to December 16 in Novosibirsk. It continued a series of conferences dedicated to Sergei L’vovich Sobolev (1908-1989), the outstanding scientist of the 20th century, one of the founders of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk State University and Institute of Mathematics, which bears his name now. This year the school-conference was dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birthday of S.L. Sobolev.

11th ICMMEDC 2018, Laos, 31. October - 4. November, 2018

The 11th ICMMEDC is a stage of gathering Mathematicians of developed and developing countries to present their research on Mathematics, promote the collaboration of Mathematical side among ASEAN countries and others. This conference is the 11th, the first five times were organized in Cambodia and the last five times were held in Myanmar.

The aim of the conference was:

CIMPA research School Lomé 2018, Togo, September 3-14, 2018

As part of its policy of training young mathematicians and in order to bring the basic sciences closer to the realities of development, the Mathematics Department of the University of Lomé and the International Center for Pure and Applied Mathematics (CIMPA) organized September 3 to 14, 2018 at the University of Lome, a Research School on the theme: "Lifetime Statistics and Spatial Statistics: Applications to therapeutic trials, industrial reliability, epidemiology and climate change".

ICART 2018, Morocco, July 2-5, 2018

The International Conference on Algebra and Related Topics 2018 (ICART 2018) was held at the Mohammed V University in Rabat and gathered more than 180 participants from 30 nationalities. The event envisaged several joint PhD projects and involved students with researchers from USA, Spain and France. It was followed by a two-days excursion to Marrakech City.

CIMPA Research School: Contrôle, Problèmes Inverses et Géométrie, Tunisia, April 18-28, 2018

This CIMPA School on control, inverse problems and geometry was held in Hammamet and featured 7 courses and seven lectures. The courses presented an opportunity for training in various fields like control and stabilization, inverse problems, Carleman inequalities, micro-local analysis and geometry. The different lectures were given in connections with these subjects.

Applied Mathematics and Random Structures, Palestine, August 27-30, 2018

The conference was held at Birzeit University and gathered 41 attendees around various fields of mathematics, such as statistics, game theory, analytic combinatorics, probability, differential or difference equations. Through the talks mathematical and statistical research were motivated and encouraged. Bachelor and Master Students got to see new topics in Applied Mathematics and Statistics when applied to real life to solve problems in industrial economics and science.

CIMPA Research School: Nonassociative algebras and applications, Uzbekistan, September 10-21, 2018

This CIMPA Research School was conducted by the Romanovsky Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan in Tashkent. The topics of the research school included various aspects of the theory of non-associative algebras, their representation theories and applications, including Lie algebras, Leibniz algebras, Jordan algebras and other classes of algebras and superalgebras.

EMALCA, El Salvador, July 1-13, 2018

The main purpose of EMALCA (La Escuela de Matemática de América Latina y del Caribe) is, in addition to promoting the interrelation of Central American students and professors, to contribute to reducing the deficit of mathematical knowledge and the gap in research capacities in pure mathematics and applied between the countries of the region, as well as to increase in the medium term the human capital in Central America. EMALCA El Salvador was held in San Miguel and hosted 49 students.
