IACME will award this medal at the opening ceremony of the IACME XV (CIAEM), which will be held in Medellin, Colombia, from May 5 to 10, 2019 (http://xv.ciaem-iacme.org). 

This medal constitutes an important international recognition granted by IACME. It bears the name of Luis Santaló (1911-2001), who was a Spanish-Argentine mathematician and educator, president of the CIAEM between 1972 and 1979, who contributed significantly to the teaching and learning of Mathematics in Latin America.

The medal is awarded every four years to individuals who have had a relevant intellectual trajectory in international mathematics education and who have had special links with the Americas.
