(WM)², the World Meeting for Women in Mathematics

An article by Marie-Françoise Roy, former chair of CWM, entitled "Building a Worldwide Community of Women Mathematicians", describes the World Meeting for Women in Mathematics (WM)² as one of the main initiatives of CWM. The article has been published in Notices of AMS (March 2023), and can be found here.

The third edition of (WM)², the World Meeting for Women in Mathematics, is organized by the CWM, with the support of the ICM 2026 Local Organizing Committee and the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM). Building on the success of previous editions in Rio de Janeiro (2018) and online (2022), the 2026 event will offer an inclusive and welcoming space for mathematical exchange and reflection. (WM)² will take place the day before the ICM 2026 and promises a vibrant day of mathematical excellence, community building, and dialogue. The program will feature invited research talks, a public lecture, a poster session, and meaningful discussions on advancing the participation and visibility of women in mathematics worldwide.

The second (WM)², the World Meeting for Women in Mathematics, planned on July 5 as a satellite event of ICM 2022, is finally taking place virtually on July 1-2. CWM invites the whole mathematical committee to join us for four scientific lectures, panel discussion, and to enjoy the OAL celebration.

The first (WM)², the World Meeting for Women in Mathematics July 31, 2018, Riocentro convention center, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil was a satellite event of the ICM 2018 organized and partially funded by CWM. A  meeting report summarizes the main activities. Abstracts of invited lectures, mathematical posters and posters relating to the general topic of women in mathematics can be found here. The book World Women in Mathematics 2018 (Proceedings of the First World Meeting for Women in Mathematics (WM)² , Vol. 20, C. Araujo, G. Benkart, C. Praeger, B. Tanbay (Eds.) was published at the end of 2019 in the Association for Women in Mathematics Series (Springer).
