The ICMI (International Commission on Mathematical Instruction) promotes global collaboration and excellence in mathematics education through international programs and research.
First Workshop held in 2014 and follow-up meeting 2015
The third Capacity and Network Project Program took place from the 14th October to the 25th October, 2013 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The kick-off workshop of CANP called “Escuela seminario internacional Construcción de Capacidades en Matemáticas y Educación Matemática” was held for 2 weeks in August, 2012 in San Jose, Costa Rica.
The event brought together 67 researchers and educators from Colombia, Panama, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Spain, Mexico, Cuba and Costa Rica which included 23 different conferences, courses, forums and symposia while focusing on important themes in Mathematics and Mathematics Education.
Two Week workshop to initiate CANP 2011
Responsibility for education in the United Kingdom (UK) is devolved to the four nations of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland (representing about 84%, 8%, 5% and 3% of the UK population, respectively). Formal school mathematics education usually starts at an earlier age than in many jurisdictions (in the September after they turn four, in England and Wales, with a 2-4 month older deadline in Scotland and Northern Ireland).
The U.S. National Academy of Sciences – Board on International Scientific Organizations is the IMU Adhering Organization. Within the Academy the body charged with interacting with ICMI is the U.S. National Commission on Mathematics Instruction (USNC/MI).
The ICMI Representative for Türkiye is nominated by the Turkish Mathematical Society (TMD), founded in 1948 and the country's IMU Adhering Organization.
Associations for Mathematics Education
The ICMI Representative for Switzerland is the chair of the ICMI sub-commission within the Swiss Mathematical Society (the IMU adhering organization). The delegates to this commission represent the linguistic diversity of Switzerland.
