Luis Santaló Medal will be awarded to Salvador Llinares Ciscar (Spain)

IACME will award this medal at the opening ceremony of the IACME XV (CIAEM), which will be held in Medellin, Colombia, from May 5 to 10, 2019 (http://xv.ciaem-iacme.org). 

This medal constitutes an important international recognition granted by IACME. It bears the name of Luis Santaló (1911-2001), who was a Spanish-Argentine mathematician and educator, president of the CIAEM between 1972 and 1979, who contributed significantly to the teaching and learning of Mathematics in Latin America.

In order to ensure sustainability of CANP, a 2 day CANP Workshop was held with members of the ICMI EC and two stakeholders from each CANP. The workshop included a planning session how to go forward with CANP (1-5 and possible 6+) and the created structures.

The second Hans Freudenthal Medal of the International Commission on Mathematical Instruction (ICMI) is awarded to Professor Paul Cobb, whose work is a rare combination of theoretical developments, empirical research and practical applications. His work has had a major influence on the mathematics education community and beyond.
