CWM Call 2019. CWM invites proposals for funding of up to €3000 for activities or initiatives taking place in 2019, aimed at either (a) establishing or supporting networks for women in mathematics, preferably at the continental or regional level, and with priority given to networks in developing or emerging countries or (b) organizing a mathematical school open to all with all women speakers and mainly women organizers. GRAID Program. IMU/CDC has recently established the Graduate Research Assistantships in Developing Countries program for graduate students working in a developing country. It provides modest support for emerging research groups, making it possible for them to fund their most talented students as graduate research assistants, thereby fostering the growth of a mathematics community. The IMU proposal to ICSU for the project "A Global approach to the Gender Gap in Mathematical and Natural Sciences : how to measure it, how to reduce it ?" has been successful. The award is of 300,000 Euros for the period 2017-2019. CWM was one of the two lead applicants. For a quick summary see here and for the project website see here.
CWM is currently exploring ways to cooperate with the Organisation for Women in Science in the Developing World (OWSD). OWSD offers generous awards to women working and living in developing countries in the early stages of their scientific careers. The awards in 2018 (to be selected in 2017) will be for women working in Physical Sciences: Chemistry, Maths and Physics. For more details see here. Through the initiative of CWM, OWSD has joined the ICSU GenderGap project. There are plans to organize the final project conference at ICTP Trieste in November 2019.
The IMU has recently launched Breakout Graduate Fellowships to support postgraduate studies, in a developing country, leading to a PhD degree in the mathematical sciences. The IMU Breakout Graduate Fellowships offer a limited number of grants for excellent students from developing countries. For more details see here.
