2027 Awards and Prizes at JMM

The Association for Women in Mathematics (AMS) is pleased to announce the 2027 awards and prizes at JMM. The awards and prizes will be presented during the Joint Prize Session on Wednesday, January 13, 2027 at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Chicago (JMM).

The 2027 M. Gweneth Humphreys Award will be awarded to Pamela E. Harris, professor of mathematics and associate vice chancellor for research at the University of Wisconsin. The Award recognizes her deep dedication to mentoring and her extensive contributions to broadening inclusivity in the mathematics community. More information here.
The 2027 Joan & Joseph Birman Research Prize in Topology and Geometry will be awarded to Maggie Miller, assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics at The University of Texas at Austin, at the Joint Mathematics Meetings. More information here.
The recipient of the AWM Mary & Alfie Gray Award for Social Justice is Leslie Ain McClure, dean of the College for Public Health and Social Justice and professor of biostatistics at Saint Louis University. The Award recognizes McClure for a career that brings the mathematical sciences vigorously and imaginatively to bear on the cause of social justice. More information here.
Tthe 2027 Louise Hay Award for Contributions to Mathematics Education will be presented to Marilyn Carlson, professor in the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at Arizona State University. More information here.
