In Argentina there are orientations at the federal level called Núcleos de Aprendizaje Prioritarios (NAP) –Nuclei of Priority Learning. In the context of NAP –Mathematics and motivated by the challenges posed by the learning results over the years, in 2018 the Government provided some general recommendations written in Spanish.

ICMI contributes to the work of the IMU Commission for Developing Countries.

The CDC has the mandate to manage all IMU initiatives in support of mathematics in the developing world. One ICMI EC member is a member of CDC.

The CDC has the mandate to manage all initiatives of the IMU in support of mathematics in developing and economically disadvantaged countries. The CDC is charged with the following missions:

One of the aims of the ICME congresses is to have a balanced representation from all over the world among the presenters as well as among the general participants. In order to achieve this goal ICMI started with ICME-8, a special ICME Solidarity Fund was initiated by setting aside 10% of the total amount collected through each ICME registration fees. The total collected amount from each ICME is distributed as grants for delegates from non-affluent countries to attend the ICMEs.

The Mathematical Sciences and Education in the Developing World

The Capacity and Network Project (CANP) is a major development focus of the international bodies of mathematics educators and mathematicians (International Commission on Mathematical Instruction, ICMI and International Mathematical Union, IMU). The project has received support by UNESCO and the International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU), now International Council of Science (ISC) as well as regional governments and institutions.

ICMI has a substantive interest in ensuring that its resources and influence extend to any country that is able to mobilize the elements of its mathematics education enterprise to make productive use of this connection. In line with this goal, and cognizant of issues of ‘voice', is the building of connections and relationships across countries and communities of mathematics education.

Since the establishment of ICMI during the fourth International Congress of Mathematicians held in Rome, 1908 the Executive Committees of the Commission (originally known as "Central Committees") have succeeded one another at intervals of approximately four years.  A list of previous members and officials appears below. The following sources were used in the gathering of this material:
