Due to Covid-19 the fourth ICMI General Assembly was presented virtually on July 13, 2020 between 13:00 and 14:00 CET. Afterwards the ICMI country representatives were invited to participate in the  ICMI EC online election during July 13th-July 20th, 2020.

Rwanda is a very small country in East Africa whose local language is Kinyarwanda. The philosophy of Rwandan Education is to ensure that children at every level of education acquire relevant knowledge, skills and appropriate attitudes that prepares them to integrate in society and exploit employment opportunities. In line with this, the government of Rwanda launched and implemented a new curriculum in 2015 called Competence Based Curriculum (CBC), with a mention of the notion of curriculum for sustainable development in the 21st century.

The ICMI Executive Committee is happy to announce that Prague, Czech Republic was chosen to host ICME-16 in 2028.

International Day of Mathematics (IDM) Organized by the Bangladesh Mathematical Society

We thank Professor Dr. Mohammad Babul Hasan– Secretary of the Bangladesh Mathematical Society and ICMI Country representative – for sending this report on the program of IDM celebrations.

According to the declaration of UNESCO, 14th of March is celebrated as the IDM worldwide. This year the theme of the IDM is “Mathematics for everyone”. The major goal of the IDM, with expected benefits for students, teachers, women and girls and the society is to improve understanding among the general public and decision makers, the importance of Mathematics in education.
