International Day of Mathematics (IDM) Organized by the Bangladesh Mathematical Society

We thank Professor Dr. Mohammad Babul Hasan– Secretary of the Bangladesh Mathematical Society and ICMI Country representative – for sending this report on the program of IDM celebrations.

According to the declaration of UNESCO, 14th of March is celebrated as the IDM worldwide. This year the theme of the IDM is “Mathematics for everyone”. The major goal of the IDM, with expected benefits for students, teachers, women and girls and the society is to improve understanding among the general public and decision makers, the importance of Mathematics in education.

The ICMI Representative for Thailand is a member of the Thailand Society of Mathematics Education and nominated by the Mathematical Association of Thailand under the Patronage of His Majesty the King (the IMU adhering organization).

According to the current Organic Law of Education (LOE 2009), the Venezuelan education system is an organic and structured set made up of levels and modalities according to the stages of human development. It is based on the principles of unity, responsibility and interdependence. Its purpose is to guarantee that the educational process and permanent preparation of every citizen be assured regardless of differences in age, sex, or ethnic or cultural diversity. It should attend the local, regional and national needs and potentials.
