The city on the Elbe offers a variety of international cuisine. You can choose from a plethora of exceptional restaurants, but you can also eat on a budget. Around the Fish Market you will find numerous cosy harbour pubs serving freshly caught fish. There are hundreds of restaurants serving international cuisine throughout the whole city area, providing you with an endless variety of menus from all over the world. And after a good meal Hamburg’s famously creative flamboyant personalities set the pace in the city’s pulsing night life. Subculture bars or hip beach clubs – new venues are forever setting new trends.

Hamburg is increasingly becoming the Mecca for music. A fresh, youthful and authentic music scene has emerged here, comparable with the style-setting club scene of the 1960s. The clubs on the Kiez were seen as the springboard to fame in those days. It was here that the Beatles achieved their breakthrough to stages around the world. The Reeperbahn remains central to the world of clubs and bands, large and small.

But also other trendy districts pulsate with life. The Schanzen quarter is becoming a more and more attractive district for a night out. A mass of new pubs, bars and clubs is opening up here at breathtaking speed. The partying also goes on for ever in the Karolinen quarter and in Ottensen, in St. Georg, or in the trendy bars and beach clubs down by the port. And down by the water, Hamburg can feel positively Mediterranean.

“Auf der Reeperbahn nachts um halb eins…” (At the Reeperbahn after midnight ..), sings the famous Hans Albers alluding to the lively nightlife on which Hamburg visitors as well as locals amuse themselves in the numerous clubs, bars and cafes. The “mile of sin”, is no longer only a place for traditional erotic establishments, but has become a melting pot of various different influences, trends and styles. St. Pauli simply offers everything: commerce, erotic, kebab and Asia shops, stylish bars and punk clubs, long-established residents, fashion lovers and dropouts, the soccer club St. Pauli and the Hafenstraße.

Culture in Hamburg offers a remarkable diversity on a world class level. Hardly any other city hosts two state operas/music halls and the next one, the architectural jewel Elbphilharmonie will be coming soon. John Neumeier and his Ballet Company guarantee world-class ballet performance. About 40 private theatres and 60 museums (arts, photography, history, music, maritime topics, cars etc.) present a multi-faceted programme. Moreover, Hamburg is the Musical Metropolis number one on the continent. Walt Disney’s King of Lion inspired more than 6 million visitors since opening in 2001. Since October 2008, Disney’s Tarzan is on stage, giving Hamburg a new tourist attraction.Andrew Lloyd Webbers The Phantom of the Opera is sucessfully running for years and in Autumn 2015 Disneys Aladdin-The Musical will start.
